Cylindrical Grinders

Cylindrical Grinders

Ceramic Grinding Wheels for Cylindrical Grinding

We supply ceramic grinding wheels for external cylindrical grinding according to customer specifications – including matching dimensions, grit, hardness, and Bond type to achieve stability, precision, and a uniform finish. Suitable for grinding shafts, sleeves, and cylindrical parts on cylindrical grinding machines.

  • Production/Supply by Order – Full customization to the machine, material, and workload.
  • Variety of Specifications – Ceramic/alumina abrasives and additional series, depending on the application.
  • Adaptation to Quality Requirements – Stability, geometry retention, and consistent finish over time.

Key Advantages:

  • Dedicated solution for external cylindrical grinding – high precision and repeatability.
  • Option to choose grit according to goal: material removal / precision / finish.
  • Option to choose hardness and structure to reduce heat, prevent "burning," and improve lifespan.
  • Matching Bond according to the nature of the work (e.g., Vitrified / Resin, etc.) – to achieve the right balance between wear and finish.

Common Uses:

  • External grinding of shafts, pins, sleeves, and cylindrical parts.
  • Precision processing and finishing for series production or maintenance.
  • Industrial applications in steels, stainless steel, and hardened materials – according to specification matching.

Parameters for Customization (What the customer chooses):

  • Dimensions: Diameter × Thickness × Hole (D×T×H) according to machine and application.
  • Shape: Common shapes in cylindrical processing (e.g., 1A / 5A, etc. – as needed).
  • Grit: Wide range from coarse to fine (e.g., 24–220), according to finish and material removal requirements.
  • Grade: Soft / Medium / Hard – depending on the material and heat generation.
  • Bond: Adapted to work type, speed, cooling, and finish requirements.

Dimensions and Grits – Common Options by Request:

Diameter (D) Thickness (T) Hole (H) Possible Grits
200–250 mm 20–32 mm 32 / 50.8 mm 24, 36, 46, 60, 80
300–355 mm 25–40 mm 76.2 / 127 mm 24, 36, 46, 60, 80, 100
400–500 mm 40–63 mm 127 mm 24, 36, 46, 60, 80, 100, 120

*The table shows ranges of common options. Final customization of grit, grade, and Bond type is performed according to workpiece material, grinding conditions, and application requirements.

How to Choose Correctly (Quickly):

  • For high material removal: Coarser grit + more open structure + adjusted hardness.
  • For precision and finish: Finer grit + adjusted Bond/hardness to prevent heat and marks.
  • To quickly get it right: Send workpiece material, part diameter, speed/RPM, cooling, and finish requirement (Ra).

Grit Selection by Workpiece Material (Professional Guidelines):

Workpiece Material Recommended Grit Grinding Purpose Professional Notes
Carbon Steels / Soft Steels 36 / 46 / 60 Material removal, refurbishment Open structure recommended to prevent clogging
Tool Steels (HSS, D2, SKD11) 46 / 60 / 80 General grinding and precision Balance between grinding rate and finish
Hardened Steels (55–62 HRC) 60 / 80 / 100 Precision and finish Wheel hardness adapted to prevent overheating
Stainless Steel 60 / 80 Stable grinding Appropriate Bond is important for heat dissipation
Cast Iron 36 / 46 Material removal Fast wear, less sensitive to heat
Hard Alloys / Special Materials 80 / 100 / 120 Precision and fine finish Correct Bond selection is critical

*The recommendations in the table are general and intended to assist in defining specifications. Final customization of grit, hardness, and Bond will be made according to machine data, speed, cooling, and finish requirements.
